Strategic Plans That Actually Ship

Most strategic plans we're asked to refresh share a familiar shape: a glossy document, a kickoff retreat, and then twelve months of silence. The plan didn't fail because the strategy was wrong. It failed because no one designed for execution.

Four moves change this. First, a KPI framework that names the metric, the owner, the cadence, and the source of truth. Second, a quarterly review ritual with a fixed agenda — what shipped, what slipped, what's next quarter's bet. Third, a small stakeholder loop that pre-reads the review and provides a written response. Fourth, an annual reset that allows the plan to evolve without starting from zero.

Done well, the plan stops being a document and becomes the operating cadence of the organization.
